Publisher Ron Hast of Mortuary Management and Funeral Monitor reflects on his many conversations with Jessica Mitford. This 30 plus year dialogue started after Mitford wrote her 1963 expose of the funeral industry, American Way of Death. Hast shares his experience at Mitford’s memorial service as well as their last conversation together. Interview by Robin Heppell of FuneralFuturist.com.

    Well, you certainly got the last word over Jessica Mitford who died in 1996. But after reading her book “The American Way of Death Revisited” I am firmly on the side of simplicity with no interference whatsoever of any mortician or undertaker, hearse, embalming, etc.

    I believe strongly in donating one’s body for medical study and organ donation.

    I hope more people will read Decca’s book and come to the same conclusions.
